Your profile and cover images are a representation of the Cal Poly brand and should be consistent with our university strategy.
Profile pictures are standardized for each entity on campus. Each entity will be using a version of the university’s shield. Your profile picture should be used on all of your social media accounts. Do not recreate the profile picture, as the file has been formatted to fit the circle crop.
Shield with Poly Green background
The shield with the Poly Green background should only be used by the university's primary social media accounts.
Shield with Mustang Gold background
The shield with the Mustang Gold background should only be used by colleges and divisions.
Shield with white background
This shield with the white background should only be used by departments, programs and centers.
Use photos for your cover photos or header images on the social media accounts where they are available. Text or graphics can often get cut off depending on the device your user is using to interact with your page or profile.
When choosing a photo, wide landscape shots are the easiest the use but detailed shots can also be used successfully. If you do decide to use a custom cover graphic, please follow the university’s brand colors and/or fonts to keep cohesive look and feel and remember that it may not be fully visable to your user. There should never been logos or lockups in the cover graphic or photo.
