SAN LUIS OBISPO — Cal Poly Student Opera Theatre will present “Spring Opera Scenes” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, in the Spanos Theatre on campus.

The popular, commonly performed opera selections will be from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” and “The Magic Flute” and Franz Lehár’s “The Merry Widow.” The audience will also get to hear lesser-known works including Claudio Monteverdi’s “L’incoronazione di Poppea (The Coronation of Poppea),” Carl Maria von Weber’s “Der Freischütz (The Marksman),” Giacomo Puccini’s “La rondine (The Swallow),” Leonard Bernstein’s “Candide,” Mozart’s “La clemenza di Tito (The Clemency of Titus)” and Jacques Offenbach’s “La Périchole (The Street Singer).”
More than 50 Cal Poly students are participating in the production, onstage and behind the scenes. In addition to the opera singers, the program will feature singing by members of the Cal Poly Chamber Choir, choreography by Theatre and Dance Department students, and some artwork produced by student artists.
