SAN LUIS OBISPO — Cal Poly Career Services has launched its Professional Clothing Closet Donation Drive, set to run through May 17.

This initiative invites members of the San Luis Obispo community to donate gently used or new, high-demand, clean and modern professional attire. First impressions are paramount to students’ success, yet many students cannot afford appropriate attire for career fairs and interviews.

Presently, about half of Cal Poly students benefit from some form of need-based financial aid, with around 4,000 students annually receiving Pell Grants. The Career Services’ Professional Clothing Closet is dedicated to leveling the playing field, ensuring all students have equal opportunities by providing free, high-quality professional attire for making impactful first impressions at career fairs and interviews. The closet serves more than 400 students annually through drop-in appointments, specialized events and collaborations with on-campus departments, clubs and organizations.

Community members are invited to donate items by dropping them off at the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Office at 895 Monterey St.

For detailed donation guidelines, visit Cal Poly’s Career Services website at careerservices.calpoly.edu or call 805-756-2501.
