Font Activation Guide

It is easy to activate our typefaces through Adobe Fonts. 


Part One: Downloading the Adobe Creative Cloud App

If you don't have the Adobe Creative Cloud App on your computer, you will need to download it before you can access Adobe Fonts. If you already have the Creative Cloud on your computer, you can skip these steps.

  1. Go to the Creative Cloud desktop app page.
  2. Click the Download button.
  3. Download Creative Cloud Desktop App.
  4. On your desktop, double-click the downloaded file to launch the installer. Mac: _Installer.dmg | Windows: _Set-Up.exe.
  5. The install should begin. During installation, the application may close and restart. This process may take up to two minutes.
  6. You may be asked to sign in again with your Cal Poly email (e.g., jmustang@calpoly.edu), then select Enterprise ID.
  7. Enter your Cal Poly username and password. Click the Login button.
  8. Log in to your Cal Poly account.
  9. The Creative Cloud desktop app is now installed on your computer.

Part Two: Sign In to Creative Cloud App

Once you have downloaded the Adobe Creative Cloud app, you need to sign in using your Cal Poly single-sign on. 

  1. Open your web browser.
  2. Go to Adobe.com.
  3. In the upper righthand corner of the webpage, click on “Sign In.”
  4. You will be directed to a login screen. Below the blue sign in button, click on the link “Sign In with an Enterprise ID.
  5. You will be directed to a different login screen. Enter your Cal Poly email in the username section. You will be automatically directed to a different page to “Choose an account for,” please select “Enterprise ID – Company of school account.”
  6. You will be redirected to your Cal Poly portal. Sign in.

Downloading the Fonts

After you have signed in to the Creative Cloud App, you will now be able to download the fonts. 

  1. Go to fonts.adobe.com.
  2. In the search bar at the top of the Adobe webpage, type in the name of the font: Only activate the fonts listed below, alternate versions are unneeded.
  3. Type in “Abolition” in the search bar. 
  4. Find “Abolition Regular” within the font list.
  5. On the right side of the screen, slide the button “Activate Font” The slide button will turn blue when activated.
  6. Type in “Utopia” in the search bar.
  7. Click on the font box for “Utopia.”
  8. On the right side of the screen at the top, slide the button “Activate All Font." The slide button will turn blue when activated.
  9. Type in “Source Sans” in the search bar.
  10. Click on the font box for “Source Sans.”
  11. On the right side of the screen at the top, slide the button “Activate All Font.” The slide button will turn blue when activated.

Troubleshooting

You may need to restart your computer to activate the fonts on all platforms. Once fonts are activated, they should populate all apps, including Microsoft Office apps. For more information and instructions, visit the ITS Service Desk website.
