Biography

Patrick Lemieux is a professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department whose teaching and research areas focus on internal combustion engines and alternative energy, including wind energy and wind turbine systems design and analysis. He is also concerned with issues regarding global energy sustainability and climate change. Lemieux has been involved in wind power research for more than 20 years. Over the past 10 years at Cal Poly, he has developed the Wind Power Research Facility, which prepares the next generation of wind industry mechanical engineers. He has also directed the Engines Test Center, which is used for teaching, research and projects involving powerplants as varied as gas turbines, small reciprocating engines, large automotive turbo-diesel engines and electric generators.
