Biography
Tina Cheuk is a teacher educator in the Bailey College of Science and Mathematics’ School of Education who specializes in science education and works to better prepare new educators for the needs of today’s students. Her scholarship focuses on science education, the experiences of student parents in higher education and developing bilingual teachers. She is actively involved in shaping policies and initiatives that support student-parents, both nationally and in California’s higher education system. Cheuk was a member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine ad hoc committee that authored the 2024 report contributing to national discussions on strengthening STEM education innovations. She received the 2024 Education Champion Award from EdTrust-West, based in California, which works to advance racial equity and educational justice in K-12 through higher education. Cheuk is committed to fostering learning spaces that empower students and families from all backgrounds. As an expert featured in the 2024 docuseries “Raising Up” that investigated the barriers student parents face in higher education, she contributes to reshaping narratives and advocating for organizational change to uplift student parents and their families.
